State of Play

Based on the BBC mini series of the same name, the suspense Thriller State of Play is the latest film about political corruption.  When a research assistant dies,  her boss who is a congressman played by Ben Affleck goes to an old friend played by Russell Crowe who is also a Washington D.C. reporter for help.  With the help of fellow reporter played by Rachel Mcadams the two newspaper journalists uncover insiders, assassins and a shady security company.  This film has a compelling story, a well written script and great performances by Crowe and Affleck.  Surprisingly Rachel Mcadams holds her own with the two seasoned lead actors.  This is a solid film with some great twists and turns and it delivers on every count.  Even with all of the positives  this isn’t a perfect film and with nothing really original I will probably forget the name of the film in 3 months.  (Of course I forgot the name of my dog and what I had for breakfast 3 hours ago so I guess that isn’t saying much.)  I’m giving this very interesting film a B rating.

This movie has been given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
