The Blindside

Based on a true story The Blindside is an uplifting film about offensive tackle Michael Oher who was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round in 2009. Quinton Aaron plays a big under achieving teenager who is homeless and is taken in by a southern white family with a spitfire of a mom played by Sandra Bullock and a supportive dad played by Tim Mcgraw. After enrolling him in an all white school and watching him excel on the high school football team Michael is soon a hot prospect for the college coaches. Yes this movie is a little over dramatic and most sports films are usually predictable and the end of this one is no surprise either. That doesn’t matter because the middle of the film is anything but conventional. The bottom line is this is Sandra Bullocks movie and she shines. Bullock nails her character, has a perfect southern draw and hopefully we see her in the best actress category during this award season. It’s just so compelling, heartwarming and yes, entertaining the whole family will love it. When I first heard the name of this film I was wondering if someone was making a movie about me but I’m a blind critic not a blind football player. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this film and I’m giving it a B+ rating.

This movie has been given a PG-13 rating by the MPAA

Although I am blind, I can appreciate a good movie as well as sighted individuals.
I rely more on a good story line than special effects.
